Holidays wouldn’t be the holidays without special drinks! Festive sippers warm body and soul, but teas with added spices and herbs make fabulous winter drinks. Choose teas with flavours you love, or try our Mulled Cranberry or Chocolate Orange, then add seasonal fruit and berries, spices and herbs, and a splash of spirits to create a one-of-a kind mulled holiday drink you’ll want to sip all winter long!

 

Mulled Holiday Drinks

Makes 3 – 4 Glasses or Mugs

INGREDIENTS
• 6 heaped teaspoons of Mulled Cranberry Spice
OR
• 5 heaped teaspoons of Holiday Chocolate Orange Spice
• 4 ½ cups of pure water
• Maple syrup, brown sugar or honey to taste
(If using sweet liqueurs, omit sweetener)

OPTIONAL PAIRINGS
• Mulled Cranberry Spice pairs well with rum, brandy or bourbon
• Holiday Chocolate Orange Spice pairs well with brandy, or orange liqueur

GARNISHES
• Fresh orange slices
• Whole cranberries or winterberries
• Sprig of fresh rosemary, a cinnamon stir stick
• Star anise pod

HOW TO
• In a sauce pot over medium-high heat bring water to a full rolling boil
• Remove from heat, add in your choice of tea (and a star anise, extra cinnamon stick, or rosemary sprig if desired) and cover
• Steep 4 – 5 minutes for Holiday Chocolate Orange, 6 – 7 minutes for Mulled Cranberry Spice
• Strain and sweeten if desired. Add spirits or sweet liqueur (if using sweet liqueurs, omit other sweeteners)
• Pour into glasses or mugs
• Add oranges or cranberries and cinnamon or rosemary stir stick. Enjoy!

TIP
• Recipe can be doubled and served in a crockpot on the ‘keep warm’ setting. Float berries, oranges and herbs on top. Add a ladle and let guests help themselves.
